Ferndale area LTN update

Hi everyone,

I am writing to provide an update on our plans to introduce an emergency low traffic neighbourhood in your area. These temporary measures will be introduced for the next few months. We will then look to form proposals for a permanent scheme, which we will develop through engagement with residents.

You may have noticed that work has already taken place to implement modal filters on Sandmere Road and on Concanon Road. Work will soon begin on installing a modal filter on Pulross Road . We are implementing these measures in sequence to carefully monitor the effect of the proposals.

There are several important facts that we want to make sure everyone is aware of:

  • The whole area will be fully accessible for vehicles to travel to and from. Nothing being introduced will stop vehicles accessing and leaving the area, but their route may change. We will continue to refine and improve the layout of these changes based on the combination of technical data and community feedback.
  • We understand residents have experienced issues with accessing the website. This issue has now been resolved. Go to https://fdstreets.commonplace.is/ to provide feedback or text/call 07860180545 to learn more about the project and how you can be involved.
  • Council officers will be hosting a webinar on 12th August 6:30pm to 7:30pm. The link to the meeting can be found on the website above under the ‘ Community Meetings ’ section.
  • Providing there are no unforeseen delays, the changes on Pulross Road will be in place by 17th August.
  • The changes are enforceable as soon as the signs are in place. A police officer can issue a fine to a vehicle if they see you going through the closure.
  • Warning notices for vehicles passing through the restriction will be issued for a short time following the implementation date. Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) will start being issued for vehicles travelling through the restrictions after the end of the warning notices period.
  • Thank you for your cooperation and we will continue to monitor these changes closely.
  • Yours Faithfully,

    Lambeth Transport Team
